Online Connectivism Conference February 2-9, 2007

George Seimens at the Learning Technologies Center at the University of Manitoba is coordinating a free Online Connectivism Conference that runs from February 2 – 9, 2007. Per the announcement, the conference "is an open online forum exploring how learning has been impacted by ongoing changes." Confirmed presenters include:

  • Key themes: Trends in k-12 and higher education; research and net pedagogy; technological and societal trends; connective knowledge and connectivism.
  • All activities will be held online.
  • Elluminate will be used to facilitate the synchronous portions of the conference – check computer configuration here
  • Moodle will be used facilitate the asynchronous portions of the conference – click here to create an account for the conference
  • Format: Presenters will deliver a 50 minute presentation
    followed by 10 minutes of questions. After each presenter, conversation
    will occur online in Moodle, allowing participants to challenge,
    critique, explore, and extend ideas presented.

  • Registration: The event is free. To keep participants informed of event changes and in order to
    gauge participation, organizers request that you supply your email address in the "Register E-mail Address" field here.

  1. I recently started doing web meetings with the Yugma FREE service (https://www.yugma.com ). It's amazing…. so I'm mentioning it here as FYI for you. Fast, secure. reliable, works on Mac and Windows (they say Linux is coming soon). I've had no issues with it. And best of all, it's free forever. That means you can invite up to 10 people to your web conferencing or desktop sharing session for free. Worth a look. And good to have as a back up solution. Hope that helps, Paul
