97:365 | AECT Proposals Reviewed

I’ve been a member of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) since becoming a graduate student. I gave my first “academic” presentation at an annual AECT convention on a literature review I completed in my master’s program, and I launched Designers for Learning as a concept during a convention some 5 years ago. However, one of the most important aspects of my AECT participation is completing convention proposal reviews.

AECT convention reviews are completed

With tomorrow’s April 8th review deadline looming, a gentle nudge was sent out yesterday indicating only 67% of reviews were completed with 850 more to review. Here is my nudge of that nudge to those who signed up to review. At only 1,500 words, the proposals are easy to read and the review form is only a few pull-downs and 2 comment boxes; one to the review committee and one to the author(s). Most proposals are quite interesting, and those that are off the mark (usually off from the aims of the division or conference) are relatively easy to spot. Given that many of the sessions are submitted by graduate students and/or faculty forwarding their research or practitioners applying/testing theory into real-world ID practice, this is one volunteer service commitment I’m happy to complete. Nudge. Nudge.
