If you’ll be attending the #aect19 convention in Las Vegas, please mark your calendar for our Accessibility Design Slam workshop on Wednesday, October 23rd at 9:00 – 11:50 a.m. The workshop team includes:
- Yvonne Earnshaw, University of Memphis
- Amy Lomellini, Molloy College
- Jennifer Maddrell, Designers for Learning
- Jason McDonald, Brigham Young University
- Esther Michela, Brigham Young University
- Plus … some special guests we’re lining up
The aim of this workshop is external impact related to the design and development of research and projects to support accessibility. As noted in the workshop abstract:
“Aligning with the conference theme of inspired professional learning, the goal of this three-hour workshop is to assist participants in planning their own research or resource development for accessibility-related issues/topics (e.g., universal design, access, equity, adherence to compliance standards, etc.) Given the noted interest by practitioners and lack of focus by scholars within our field, we aim to lay a foundation for this work by advocating for needed research and resources, and by providing a mentored workshop experience where participants can receive formative feedback as they plan future accessibility-related projects.”
As a lead up to the workshop, our team will also participate in an AECT Design & Development division webinar tentatively set for September 18, 2019. More to follow …
