Mixed with the big data and learning analytics drumbeats are warnings about data privacy and security, including this recent post in EdTech: Focus on Higher Education about student data and privacy after graduation. While the post offers macro tech-based solutions, it also highlights the guidance the University of Pittsburgh gives new graduates for securely closing down their accounts, as well as a primer to help faculty and staff understand records retention and disposition schedules and policies at the California State University. It’s far from perfect guidance, but it’s a start.
