11:365 | Presentation Prep Day

Tomorrow, my pal and I will be presenting at the Morton College Adult Education In-Service day. We’re excited to share our thoughts on “Integrating Technology into Instruction—Realistic Strategies for the Adult Education Classroom”. Here’s the overview of our session:

“While most adults have smartphones, many lack the digital skills needed to acquire and evaluate information, communicate with others, and perform practical tasks. During this session, participants will distinguish among four components of “digital literacy,” including digital hard skills, digital skill application, information consumption, and digital problem-solving. Participants will then be introduced to an instructional framework that differentiates learner interaction types, including learners interacting with the instructor, other learners, and the content. Using this framework, participants will construct a lesson activity that incorporates digital literacy skills while taking into consideration their learner audience and technology availability. Through this lesson activity, we will share and compare teaching strategies to integrate technology in ways that facilitate day-to-day instruction while helping our learners overcome the digital literacy skills gap. The goal is for instructors to leave empowered in their ability to integrate digital literacy skill development—not as an add-on, but as a regular part of instruction to help learners build the skills needed for academic and career success.”

I’ll report back tomorrow on how it went …
